Conference languages

EWMA 2012 is a bilingual conference and the conference languages are English and German. Plenary sessions, key sessions, some free paper sessions and all conference material will be in English and German.

CME
Credits for Continuing Medical Education (CME) will be awarded by the European Union of Medical Specialists. EWMA is awarded 14 CME credits for the full conference.

Location of the conference venue
Austria Center Vienna is located between the tower blocks of the Donau City district and the Vienna International Centre (U.N.), in the most modern part of Vienna.

Accessibility

Airport shuttle
There is an airport shuttle bus from the metro station next to the congress venue. It runs every hour and takes 30 minutes from this bus stop to Airport Vienna Schwechat:

Train
Another way to reach the Airport is the “CAT – City-Airport-Train It is a Non-stop-Train which takes you in 16mins directly to the airport and departs at U3/U4 metro station “Landstraße”:

Metro
If you are travelling by metro from the city centre (Stephansplatz), you can take the red U1 underground line. Step out at Vienna International Centre/Kaisermühlen and take the exit marked Schüttaustraße. The trip should take you about 10 minutes.

Parking
Car parking is available 24 hours a day at the congress centre.

The first 30 minutes are free of charge, the daily maximum is € 10. If you want to buy a weekly card (1 working week) it is € 30.

Taxi
Taxis will be available in the taxi rank in front of the metro station next to the congress venue. Rates from the airport to the city centre are around 30 - 36 Euro. Rates from the ACV to the city centre are around 14-17 Euro. If you wish to book a taxi in Vienna by phone we recommend to call one of the following companies which have reasonable and fixed rates:

Certificates of attendance
Certificates of attendance will be available at the registration desk during the conference.

Photography
EWMA does not allow anyone to take photograps during sessions, except the official photographer of EWMA 2012.

Smoking policy
In accordance with the policy of EWMA, this is a non-smoking event.

 

Mobile phones
All mobile phones must be silent during sessions.

 

Internet
An internet corner, equipped with computers and free internet connection will be available on the exhibition floor (Hall X).

Free WIFI is available in the entrance hall.

 

Bank, Exchange and Credit Cards
The national currency in Austria is the Euro (EUR). An ATM is available in the main entrance hall of the congress venue. The nearest banks to the congress venue are next to the metro station:

Banks are normally open Monday to Friday from 08.00 - 12.30 and 13.30 - 15.00, on Thursday afternoons banks are open until 17.30.

Banks are closed on Saturday and Sunday, except at the airport. ATMs are widely available throughout the city, most of them can be found outside banks or in bank foyers. All major credit cards are widely accepted. Please be aware that smaller businesses may not accept credit card payments and you are advised to check prior to purchase. Shops and restaurants/coffeehouses display credit card logos at the entrance door in case they accept them. Service is included in the bill in bars and restaurants, but tips are welcome. Travellers' cheques need to be exchanged at banks.
Cloakroom / Luggage

 

Cloakroom
The cloakroom is located on the Yellow Level (OE) behind the ACV Information desk, signposted and open during congress hours. Please be sure to collect all personal belongings at the end of the day.

 

Lost and Found
Found items should be returned to the ACV Information Desk in the main lobby. If you lose something, please report to this desk for assistance.

 

First Aid
There is a medical unit present for first aid in room U646 on the yellow level. In case of emergency contact the conference secretariat (yellow level, OE) or someone from the organisers staff immediately.
